Help System - Postage

As well as setting a price for the products sold in your shop, it may be necessary to pass on the postage costs associated with sending out their order. This cost may vary depending on the products they have ordered, where they are located and the class of postage delivery.

Appee allows you to create your own postal charges and each charge is comprised of three elements; Postal Classes, Product Groups and Locations. Each of these elements is explained in detail below.

Postal Classes

This allows you to create different postal classes that your customers will have to choose from depending on how quickly they want their order to be delivered. To add a class, click the Add Class option from the class options. You will then be prompted to enter a name for the class you wish to create, upon entering it the class will appear in the list of postal classes.

The class options allow you to Rename Class,Delete,Move Up and Move Down the postal classes you have already created. To edit the created class with one of these options, select the class and then select the required option from the class options.

Product Groups

This allows you to create different postal charges for different product groups. These groups could be defined by weight, value of the product or any other criteria your choice. To create a group, click the Add Group option from the group options. You will then be prompted to enter a name for the group you wish to crhttp://www.appee.com/admin/cms/pages/edit_pages.html?action=edit&id=64eate, upon entering it the group will appear in the list of product groups.

The class options allow you to Rename Group,Delete,Move Up and Move Down the product groups you have already created. To edit the created group with one of these options, select the group and then select the required option from the group options.

Locations

This allows you to create different locations that the user can choose according to where they live and where their order will be delivered to. To add a location, click the Add Location option from the location options. You will then be prompted to enter a name for the location you wish to create, upon entering it the location will appear in the list of locations.

If you have created postal classes and product groups, selecting one of each element and then selecting a location will enable you to enter a price, that is a based on all three elements:A product in a certain group being posted via a certain class to a certain location.

Postage Screen

The price is entered into the text box as shown above and is displayed in your shops primary currency. When you have entered or amended the price, save what you have done by clicking the Save Changes button situated in the location options.

Adding Products to Postal Groups

This step is essential as it enables the cost of postage to be added to a product when the product is purchased by your customers. When you have finished deciding how much postage will cost according to the different criteria explained above, you need to add each of the products in your shop to a Product Group. When the product is added to a group it allows the customer to select a Postal Class and the Location of delivery which determines the cost of postage automatically for the customer.
