The Media Manager is used to create and edit content that can be placed within your shop. The main screen of the Media Manager is displayed below:

Content Title

This is the name given to the content when first created. The name will be the name you entered when prompted to create new content.

Full Screen

Switches between a full screen view and normal view of the Media Manager.

Preview

Provides a preview of the content being created or edited, in three different resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768.

Paste from Word

Allows you to paste any content you may have previously drafted in Microsoft Word into the Media Manager.

Undo

Undoes the last change you have made to the content.

Redo

Redoes the last 'Undo' action.

Foreground Colour

Selects the colour of the text in the foreground.

Background Colour

Selects the colour of the background.

Bookmark

A bookmark on a webpage allows you to mark a place on a page that your visitors can jump to using a Hyperlink. To create a bookmark select where you would like it to be using your mouse cursor and then click on the bookmark icon (9). This will bring up a dialogue box that allows you to create a bookmark by giving at a name. This name will be used as reference when you attach the bookmark to the hyperlink. Once the bookmark is created, a # will show where the bookmark will be placed.

Hyperlink

Hyperlinks allow you to create several types of links:

  • Links to Bookmarks on the same page
  • Links to other pages on your shop
  • Links to other pages on the Internet

To create a hyperlink, first type out the text that will act as a the link. Highlight the text using your mouse cursor and then click on the bookmark icon (10). This brings up the hyperlink toolbox shown below:

Source Allows you to enter the address the link will point to if it points to something that is not on the same page. The left drop down box allows you choose the format of the link the following list:

  • http - This would be used to link to a regular web page on the Internet. This may be a page from your shop or on another site.
  • https - This would be used to link to a secure web page on the Internet.
  • mailto - This would be used to link to an email address. Upon clicking the link, the visitors default email software program (Outlook, Notes, etc) will open and the address in the link will be placed in the 'To' field.
  • ftp - This would be used to link to a file on a file transfer server. Linking to the file would allow your visitor to download the file
  • news This allows you to link to a newgroup
  • Javascript This allows you to link to an existing javascript file. Recommended for advanced users only

The field to the right of the drop down box is used to enter the address of the item you wish to link to

Bookmark allows you to link the hyperlink to a created bookmark on the same page. You will be able to choose the bookmark to link to from a drop down list of created bookmarks.

Target allows you to choose how the link will be displayed when selected. The selection is made using the drop down list of options. Leaving the list blank as it is by default will open the link in the same browser window.

Title allows to you name the hyperlink you are creating.

Image

This option allows the insertion of images into the shop content. Upon clicking the image icon, you will see the following screen:

The Source field is where you specify the image to be loaded. This image is selected using the Asset Manager which is displayed by clicking on the folder icon to the right of the field:

strong>Title allows you to create a title for the image. If the image is not displayed in the visitors browser, this title will be displayed instead to give an indication of the nature of the image.

Alignment provides a variety of options with regards to how the image will appear in relation to the surrounding text. The alignment option effects can be previewed in the preview box at the bottom of the menu.

Border allows you to place a border around the image. Clicking the Border Style button displays another screen which allows you to define the borders style, width, and on which side of the image the border will appear.

Width and Height make the image a specific size. If these values are left undefined, the image will be displayed at its default values.

Spacing allows you to define how much space or 'padding' there will be between the image and surroundings. The effects of the spacing can be previewed in the preview box at the bottom of the menu.

Table

This allows you to create a table for effective presentation of information. Upon clicking the table icon (12), you are given a graphical tool that allows you choose the size of your table:

The graphical table tool allows you to create tables up to 8 rows by 8 columns in size. If you want to create a table larger than this, you can do so by using the Advanced table options. This allows you to enter how many row and columns the table will have and also allow you to define other attributes of the table, this includes:

  • Borders - How thick a border the cells of the table have. This can be between 1px and 5px thick. Note If you do not create a border, the table will not be visible and will exist for item positioning only.
  • Spacing - The space between the cells in the table.
  • Padding - The space between the content in the cell and the edges of the cell
  • Collapse - This 'collapses' the cells of the table so that are all connected and there are no spaces between the cells
  • Span > (Span Horizontal) This allows you to take a cell in a table and extends it horizontally so the cell is bigger by one cell and as a result takes the space of the cell to the right of it.
  • Span V (Span Vertical) This allows you to take a cell in a table and extends it vertically so the cell is bigger by one cell and as a result takes the space of the cell below it.

Edit Table/Cell

This allows you to alter the table you have created or a particular cell from that table. Select the table you wish to edit and click the Edit Table/Cell icon (13), this will give you three options:

  • Table Cells - This allows you to create rows and columns, alter their span and delete them.
  • Edit Table - This allows you to determine how the information in the table is formatted and presented. This also allows you to edit all the initial attributes that were defined when the table was created
  • Edit Cell - This allows you to edit a particular cell if you do not want the formatting to be uniform across the table

Absolute

This option allows you to specify the absolute position of an item on the page. Recommended for advanced users only

Special Characters

This allows you to insert special characters into your content. This includes many symbols of currency and other symbols not found on the keyboard

Line

This allows you to insert a horizontal line into your content

Form Editor

This allows you to create a form to collect data on your site. To process the data collected from the form, an external script is required so this is recommended for advanced users only.

Remove Formatting

This removes all the formatting that you may have applied to the content on the page. To remove the formatting for a particular section of the content, highlight the content and click the Remove Formatting icon (18).

View/Edit Source

This allows you to view the HTML source of the page. Advanced users may want to edit the source HTML on the page

Styles/Formatting

This allows you to determine the Style and Formatting of different aspects of the content:

  • Text Formatting - This allows you format the text in the content. This includes the font, style, size and colour of the text. The preview box at the bottom of the Text Formatting toolbox shows how the text will show look with the formatting applied.
  • Paragraph Formatting - This allows you to format paragraphs of text. This includes the indentation of the paragraph, the spacing between words and letters and the wrapping properties of the text.
  • List Formatting - This allows you to format lists by defining the style of list.
  • Box Formatting - This feature pertain to the CSS box model and is recommened for Advanced users only. It allows you to alter border, margin and padding properties which form the 'box' of the element.
  • Custom CSS - Recommended for advanced users only - This option allows you to create custom CSS files to define the formatting of the content.

Font Style

Selects the font for a particular section of text.

Font Name

Selects the name of the font type you wish to use.

Font Size

Selects the size of the font.

Bold

While this icon is selected, any typed or selected text will be in bold type.

Italic

While this icon is selected, any typed or selected text will be in italics.

Underline

While this icon is selected, any typed or selected text will be in underlined.

Justify Left

Aligns all text so that all lines of text stem from the left of the screen.

Justify Centre

Aligns all text so that all lines of text stem from the centre of the screen.

Justify Right

Aligns all text so that all lines of text stem from the right of the screen.

Justify Full

Aligns all text so that all lines of text are of approximately equal length.

Numbering

Used to create a numbered list of items. Each item is numbered with each successive line break (pressing the return/enter key).

Bullets

Used to create a bulleted list of items. Each item is bulleted with each successive line break (pressing the return/enter key).

Indent

Indents lines or sections of text.

Outdent

Outdents lines or sections of text that have been indented. Effectively, it undoes the effects of an indenting action.

Text Area

This area is where all content is generated and formatted. All text is entered here.

Generated Tags

This area shows all the HTML tags that are being generated as of a result of what is being entered in the text area (35).

Save Button

This button ensures that all the changes you have made to the content are saved and returns you to the content menu screen.

Cancel Button

This button cancels all changes made to the content and returns you the content menu screen.
